Pitra dosha check
Simple remedies for Pitra dosha
- During Pitru Paksha, offer tarpan or shraddha for your ancestors, or have it done by a priest.
- On Amavasya, especially a Somvati Amavasya (a new moon on a Monday), offer water to a peepal tree, walk around it while chanting "Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya", and pray to Lord Vishnu for your ancestors' peace.
- On Saturdays or on Amavasya, feed crows, cows or fish with balls of rice mixed with a little ghee.
- Read the Bhagavad Gita, or arrange a reading of it, and remember your ancestors with gratitude.
- Respect and look after your parents and elders, and give food to the needy in your ancestors' names.
These remedies are good for everyone, whether or not the dosha shows in your chart. Pitra dosha is not a curse; it is a reminder to honour your family line.
