When will I get married? How the kundli shows marriage timing
Marriage timing comes from three things working together: the 7th house and Venus, the running dasha, and Jupiter's transit. A plain guide, with Jupiter's position for 2026–27.
"When will I get married?" is probably the question I am asked most. There is no single magic rule. Marriage timing comes from three things agreeing: the promise in the chart, the right dasha, and a supporting transit.
1. The promise: 7th house, its lord and Venus
The 7th house shows marriage and partnership; Venus is the karaka (significator) of marriage for everyone, and Jupiter is traditionally consulted too, especially in a woman's chart. When the 7th house and its lord are well placed (in a kendra or trikona), receive good aspects, and Venus is strong, marriage tends to come on time and happily.
Delay is shown when the 7th lord sits in the 6th, 8th or 12th house, when Venus is weak or afflicted, or when Saturn aspects the 7th house or its lord. Saturn's influence usually means delay, not denial. Many people with Saturn on the 7th marry a little later and more maturely, and stay married.
2. The period: which dasha brings marriage
Marriage most often happens in the dasha or antardasha of:
- the lord of the 7th house, counted from the lagna, the Moon and Venus;
- planets sitting in the 7th house;
- planets aspecting the 7th house or its lord;
- Venus itself.
3. The trigger: Jupiter's transit
The classic timing signal is Jupiter (gochara) passing through the 2nd, 5th, 7th, 9th or 11th sign from your Moon sign, especially when it also touches your 7th house or its lord. The Navamsa (D9) chart refines this further.
For 2026–27, Jupiter moves into Simha (Leo) on 31 October 2026, steps back into Karka from late January 2027, returns to Simha in late June 2027, and enters Kanya in late November 2027.
Jupiter in Simha is the 2nd from Karka, the 5th from Mesha, the 7th from Kumbha, the 9th from Dhanu and the 11th from Tula. People with these moon signs, and a promising 7th house, should watch the months Jupiter spends in Simha.
Putting it together
When a supportive dasha is running and Jupiter's transit agrees, marriage usually comes even if there were years of delay before. When only one of the three is present, effort brings proposals, but things may not finalise. That is why I always read all three together.
